Bong Technical College President, Dr. John S. Flomo awarded again.
The President of the Bong County Technical College Reverend Dr. John S. Flomo was today Friday March 18, 2016 received the prestigious College President of the year 2015/ 2016 award from the Association of Montserrado Teachers.
Presenting the award at the Auditorium of the William V.S. Tubman Gray high school in Gbarnga, the President of the Association Joseph Deema said, Dr. Flomo was selected after an assessment conducted by the association.
Mr. Deema said, although officials of the association have had no formal interaction with Dr. Flomo, the association through some of its members have been closely following the works of Dr. Flomo.
He challenged Dr. Flomo to remain focus in his quest to contributing immensely to the improvement of education in Liberia.
Mr. Deema further made it clear that this is the first time for the association to take its award ceremony outside Monrovia and was due to the hard work and commitment of the Bong County Technical College President.
Receiving the award in the midst of faculty members and staff of the College, Dr. Flomo firstly gives thanks and appreciation to God for the strength and courage to make impact in the education sector of Liberia.
Dr. Flomo acknowledged that had it not being for the contribution of all employees of the BCTC, he would not have received such honor.
He further commended the Association of Montserrado Teachers for recognizing his work and vowed not to only contribute to the agriculture sector as a College President and Professor but also providing scholarships for needy and desirous students of Liberia.
Dr. Flomo noted that Liberia’s education sector was at a cross- road and all must be done by Liberians to contribute to its improvement
It can be recalled, the Distinguished International Alumni Award was bestowed on Dr. Flomo by the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota in the USA on November 19, 2015 for his distinguished contributions to human development.
Dr. Flomo was also awarded an honorary Doctor of Blacology degree by the Blacology Institute in Fort Worth, Washington, Maryland USA in December 2015.
Since he took over as President of the Bong County Technical College, Dr. Flomo continues to gain the admiration of the people of Bong County for his decision to have left other jobs in Monrovia to accept an offer from President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to take the job as President of the College.
Dr. Flomo is a native of Bong County Jorquelleh administrative district two, specifically from the remote village of Gorgotha, where no one taught someone could come from to contribute to Liberia’ s education.
